The Coral Nursery cleans 2,000 lbs. of trash on local beach!

International Coastal Cleanup Day x The Coral Nursery x Scuba Dogs PR

October 29th, 2023 in Humacao, PR (Postponed due to Hurricane Fiona)

The Coral Nursery partnered with local nonprofit, Scuba Dogs, to create maximum results in their biggest coastal cleanup event of the year - International Coastal Cleanup Day!

Two powerful nonprofits with an aligned vision = MAXIMUM IMPACT!

STATS Snapshot:

- Over 2,000 LBS. of Trash Collected!

- 2.5 Miles of beach cleaned

- 35 Volunteers

How are the stats tracked?

Recommended by the Ocean Conservancy, groups and organizations around the world log their impact by using the app: CleanSwell. One member of each small cleanup group logs the trash collected the entire duration of the cleanup. The app automatically generates the pounds collected, time spent, and distance of beach covered.

Additionally, in partnership with local school,

The Palmas Academy, The Coral Nursery offered volunteer hour credits to motivate students to engage in the cleanup. This led to over 70% of volunteers being local middle-high school students, leaving inspired!

Since its beginning of International Coastal Cleanup® (ICC) more than 17 million volunteers have collected more than 348 million pounds of trash in partnership with volunteer organizations and individuals around the globe. The Coral Nursery X Scuba Dogs PR were more than happy to add to those incredible impact numbers in 2022.

The Coral Nursery sends a big THANK YOU to our wonderful volunteers.

Expect to see more to come!

Together, we can clean up our oceans.
